Will there be changes in the World Cup team? Shivam Dubey's poor figures become a problem
- BCCI has announced the Indian team for T20 World Cup 2024.
- Rohit Sharma was made the captain of that team and Hardik was made the vice-captain
- After being selected in Team India, Dubey's performance was very poor.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 on 30 April. Rohit Sharma was appointed the captain of that team and Hardik was appointed the vice-captain. Many famous players including Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant have been given a place in the team. One of these names was that of Shivam Dubey, who had scored 396 runs in the IPL 2024 season. He also scored 3 half-centuries in this season. Captain Rohit Sharma made it clear that Dubey has been selected on the basis that apart from power hitting, he can also bowl in the middle overs. But after being selected in Team India, Dubey's performance has been very poor.
Shivam Dubey's bad statistics
Before the announcement of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup, Shivam Dubey had played 9 matches in IPL 2024 and scored 350 runs at an excellent average of 58.33. The good thing was that he was batting at a tremendous strike rate of 172.4. It looked like Dubey would really strengthen India's middle-order. But Dubey has failed in the last 5 matches of the league stage.
Dubey had poor performance in the last matches
Shivam Dubey has scored only 46 runs in the last 5 matches, in which his highest score was 21 runs which he made against Gujarat Titans. In the last 5 matches, his average has fallen from 58.3 to 36. Even when CSK desperately needed a win against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Dubey failed to do so. Dubey played 15 balls in the match against RCB, in which he could score only 7 runs.
Who will replace Dubey?
Let us tell you that ICC has given permission to the teams involved in T20 World Cup 2024 to change their squad till May 25. In such a situation, Shivam Dubey's poor performance can get him out of the team before the start of the World Cup. If this happens then the biggest question will be who will take his place. Let us tell you that Rinku Singh was not selected among the 15 players for the World Cup but among the reserve players. Rinku has scored 356 runs at an average of 89 in T20 matches for India in the last one year. His presence will strengthen the middle order of the Indian team.
