'Shubman Gill still has a lot to learn…' David Miller's shocking statement about the captain!
- Poor performance of Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024
- Gujarat Titans are at ninth place in the points table
- David Miller supported his captain Gill
Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans' hopes of reaching the playoffs in IPL 2024 are almost over. GT suffered a four-wicket defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore in their 11th match. Gujarat team was out for 147 runs at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. GT has slipped to ninth place in the points table. On one hand GT is performing disappointingly and on the other hand Gill has not even batted in the last few matches. In such a situation, Gill is facing criticism. Meanwhile, Gujarat's senior batsman David Miller has come forward in support of his captain.
Gil has a lot to learn
Miller says the 24-year-old Gill has a lot to learn and is quickly “adjusting” to his new role. Gill, who came as an opening batsman, scored 2 runs in 7 balls against RCB while Miller scored 30 runs in 20 balls. “Shubman is an extraordinary player, as we all know,” Miller said in the press conference after the RCB vs GT match. He is still young and has a lot to learn and he is captaining well. After Hardik Pandya joined Mumbai, the captaincy of Gujarat went to Shubman Gill.
Shami was missing in Gujarat team
GT's experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami is not playing in the current season of IPL. He is recovering from leg surgery. It will take several months for it to fit completely. Miller believes that the absence of experienced Shami is also a reason for the team's poor performance. He said, “Of course Shami performed brilliantly in the power play. That's why we feel we are missing him in the powerplay. He took wickets and kept the economy rate low as Gujarat faced Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their next match. Both will face each other on the grounds of Ahmedabad on May 10.
