Sarfaraz Khan’s Brother Musheer Breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s Historic Record In Ranji Trophy Final

Musheer Khan, a batter from Mumbai who recently played in the ICC U19 World Cup Indian team that finished runners-up in Australia , has been igniting the business end of the Ranji Trophy with his performances. Musheer has shown glimpses of a future star in the upcoming final with Vidarbha. He scored a knock of 136 in 326 deliveries, consisting of 10 boundaries, helping Mumbai get a massive 500-plus run lead.
Musheer Khan became the youngest Mumbai batsman to score a century during a Ranji Trophy finale. Sachin Tendulkar, who held the previous record was present at the stands, as the 19-year-old Musheer brought up his exquisitely carved ton in 255 balls.
Musheer, brother of India batter Sarfaraz Khan, is aged 19 years and 14 days, while Tendulkar was just below 22 years of age when he scored twin hundreds in the 1994-95 season final against Punjab.
During the semifinal against Tamil Nadu, Musheer played an important hand with the bat, scoring a valuable 55 in 131 balls, with six fours, before all-rounder Shardul Thakur hit a superb counter – attacking century to give Mumbai a 232-run lead. The match was won by Mumbai by one innings and 70 runs.
Musheer hit 203 off 357 balls with 18 fours in his first innings of first-class against Baroda and achieved a double ton, which was his maiden first-class century. He scored a quickfire 33 in 25 balls, with five fours in the second innings. After a draw, Mumbai took the first-innings lead and won.
In three matches to date, Musheer has scored 433 runs at an average of 108.25, with two centuries and a half – century respectively. His best score is 203*.
Musheer made seven appearances in the U19 WC competition, netting 360 runs on an average of 60 and a strike rate of more than 98. He finished the tournament with two centuries and fifty and was the second highest scorer. He achieved his highest score of 131.
He has also represented India in 14 Youth ODI matches, resulting in 554 runs at a rate of 61.55, which includes two centuries along with a fifty. With 13 wickets, Musheer is also a useful spin-bowling all-rounder.
Sarfaraz Khan, his elder brother, made his eagerly anticipated international debut against India against England in the third Test at Rajkot just recently. He scored twin half-centuries in his debut match. He concluded the series with 200 runs scored over five innings at a run rate of 50.00, including three half-centuaries.
