Sanju Samson will make a big sacrifice for Team India, give a chance to this RR player
Indian player Sanju Samson is once again ready to take charge of Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Apart from captaining RR, Sanju also handles wicketkeeping but now he is going to make a big sacrifice for this role. He will continue to lead Rajasthan Royals as captain but will no longer be seen as the wicketkeeper. Dhruv Jurel is going to take over this responsibility in RR. Dhruv Jurel, who is currently on Australian tour with Team India, will now be seen behind the wicket in place of Sanju in the IPL. Sanju himself has approved this.
Jurel will be the wicketkeeper of Rajasthan in place of Sanju.
Sanju Samson recently spoke openly on this matter on the YouTube channel of former South African cricketer AB de Villiers. Samson said, 'I did not say this on air, but it was discussed. We feel that at this stage of Dhruv Jurel's career as a Test wicketkeeper, he needs wicketkeeping in the IPL. I think we will stay together. I never captained as a fielder. This can be challenging. I also told Dhruv that as a captain I think you should also do keeping in some matches.
This is Sanju's record as a wicketkeeper.
Sanju Samson has been playing double role for Rajasthan Royals for a long time. He has 16 stumpings and 64 catches in his name in IPL for this team. On the other hand, Dhruv Jurel has never played as a wicketkeeper in the IPL. But he will be seen debuting as a wicketkeeper in IPL 2025. Ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, Rajasthan Royals retained Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal for Rs 18 crore each. While Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel were retained for Rs 14 crore each. Whereas Sandeep Sharma was retained as an uncapped player for Rs 4 crore.
