The 44th match of IPL 2024 was played between Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals. The Rajasthan team captained by Sanju Samson has performed brilliantly so far. He is on top in the points table. Rajasthan Royals beat Lucknow Super Giants by 7 wickets. Batting first, Lucknow scored 196 runs. In reply, Rajasthan achieved the target by losing 3 wickets in 19 overs. Samson and Jurel performed brilliantly for Rajasthan. Sanju scored unbeaten 71 runs on 33 balls. He hit 7 fours and 4 sixes. Dhruv Jurel scored unbeaten 52 runs on 34 balls. Jos Buttler was out after scoring 34 runs. Yashasvi returned to the pavilion after scoring 24 runs. Rajasthan got the target of 197 runs
With the help of captain KL Rahul's 76 runs and Deepak Hooda's 50 runs, Lucknow Supergiants gave the target of 197 runs to Rajasthan Royals. Losing the toss and deciding to bat first, Lucknow scored 196 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs thanks to the century partnership between Rahul and Deepak Hooda for the third wicket. Sandeep Sharma took two wickets for Rajasthan and proved to be the most successful bowler for his team in this match.
Trent Boult and Sandeep Sharma gave early success to Rajasthan. Boult bowled Quinton de Kock on the third ball of the first over. After this, Sandeep ruined Lucknow's innings by sending Marcus Stoinis, who had scored a century in the previous match, to the pavilion without opening his account. However, captain KL Rahul along with Deepak Hooda handled the innings and both the batsmen played responsibly and made a partnership of 115 runs for the third wicket. This was the biggest partnership of the match for Lucknow which brought the team out of trouble. First Rahul scored a half-century and after some time Deepak Hooda also completed his half-century in 30 balls. However, Ravichandran Ashwin ended this partnership by dismissing Hooda. After this, Sandeep made a comeback for Rajasthan by dismissing Nicholas Puran (11), Avesh Khan (11) and Rahul.
With this victory, Rajasthan team has come very close to the playoffs. Rajasthan is on top with 16 points from nine matches with eight wins and one loss, while the KL Rahul-led side is fourth with five wins after losing one match.
