RCB: Former coach reveals, that's why Bengaluru dropped Chahal
- Yuzvendra Chahal has become the first bowler to take 200 wickets in IPL.
- RCB will regret not being able to retain Chahal
- Former Bengaluru captain Mike Hasan has made a big revelation.
Yuzvendra Chahal, who created history by taking 200 wickets in the history of Indian Premier League, is playing for Rajasthan Royals. Royal Challengers Bangalore will regret not being able to keep this champion spinner in the team for a long time. The franchise's former director of cricket, Mike Hasan, on Tuesday insisted that they failed to retain the leg spinner due to miscalculation in the last IPL auction.
Chahal became the first bowler to take 200 wickets in IPL
On Monday, Chahal created history by becoming the first bowler to take 200 wickets in the IPL. Speaking to former Indian batsman Robin Uthappa, Hasan said, “Yuzi (Chahal) is a player with whom I will be disappointed till the end of my career and maybe even after that. He is an excellent bowler.”
I think when it comes to each cycle, you have to decide which ones you want to retain. If you retain only three players, you will get extra Rs. Will take Rs 4 crore with him. This would have given us a chance to buy both Harshal Patel and UG.
Chahal was not bought because of this player
Hesson said that Chahal's name came very late in the auction and by then the franchise had bought Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga. He said, “When the auction order came and Yuzvendra Chahal was at number 65. After UG, there was no spinner in whom we were interested. We were obviously interested in Hasaranga as another option if we didn't get UG. So we bid for it and then once we got Hasaranga it meant we couldn't go for UG.
Chahal has taken 200 wickets in 153 matches in the IPL at an average of 21.60, with his best being 5 wickets for 40 runs. He achieved this feat during the match against Mumbai Indians in Jaipur on Monday. Hesson served as the Director of Cricket for the Bangalore franchise from 2019–2023.
