PBKS vs GT highlights: Gujarat Titans beat Punjab Kings by six wickets, Shubman Gill scored 67 runs
In the 18th match of the 2023 season, Gujarat Titans emerged victorious against Punjab Kings by six wickets. Punjab Kings batted first and scored 153 runs, losing eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Despite five of their batsmen scoring more than 20 runs, they were unable to set a challenging target. Matthew Short was the highest scorer for Punjab Kings with 36 runs. Mohit Sharma, opening the bowling for Gujarat Titans, took two wickets, and the other four bowlers took one wicket each.
In response, Gujarat Titans started well with openers Shubman Gill and Saha putting up a 48-run partnership for the first wicket. Saha scored 30 runs off 19 balls, but was dismissed soon after. Sai Sudarshan contributed 19 runs off 20 balls, while captain Hardik Pandya could only score 8 runs off 11 balls. Shubman Gill scored a half-century off 40 balls and eventually got out after scoring 67 runs off 49 balls. David Miller (17) and Tewatia (5) completed the chase with one ball to spare.
Punjab Kings got off to a poor start, losing Prabhasimran in the very first over. Shikhar Dhawan also got out cheaply, scoring just 8 runs. Although Matthew Shaw played a quick innings of 36 runs off 24 balls, he was unable to provide stability to the team’s scorecard. Bhanuka scored 20 runs off 26 balls before getting out, and Jitesh scored 25 runs off 23 balls. Sam Karan contributed 22 runs off 22 balls, while Shahrukh Khan got out after scoring 22 runs off 9 balls due to a run-out. Harpreet scored 8 runs before being dismissed. Despite five of their batsmen scoring more than 20 runs, Punjab Kings’ total was not enough to challenge Gujarat Titans.
