IPL 2025: Retained players will get crores of rupees, know what are the rules
Before the mega auction of IPL 2025, the picture of retention has become completely clear. Now everything should be clear as to how many players the teams will be able to retain and how much they will be paid. Now teams will be able to retain 6 players from their existing team. There will also be an option of right to match. The auction of purse has also been extended. Teams will be able to retain a total of five capped Indian or foreign players. There will be an uncapped player in this. Along with this they will have 6 retention options.
Players will get crores of rupees
Before the mega auction, IPL franchises will be able to retain 6 players. Different salary slabs have been made for these players. The retained list will include five capped and one uncapped players. The price of an uncapped player can be up to Rs 4 crore. Whereas the value of a capped player will be much higher. The price of the first retained player will be Rs 18 crore. The price of the second player will be Rs 14 crore and the price of the third player will be Rs 11 crore. Similarly, the price of the fourth player will be Rs 18 crore and the price of the fifth player will be Rs 14 crore.
Teams' auction purse increased
IPL said in its media advisory that the auction budget of the teams has been increased. Teams will have Rs 120 crore in IPL 2025. If we look at the 2024 season, Rs. ₹110 crore which includes the auction purse and incremental performance pay. Now it has increased to Rs 146 crore in 2025. This amount will increase to Rs 151 crore in 2026. Thus, by 2027 it will become Rs 157 crore.
What decision was taken regarding the impact player rule?
There has been a lot of discussion about the impact player rule from last season. Many types of questions were being raised regarding this. This rule will now continue for the 2025 to 2027 cycle. However, nothing can be said yet about what decision will be taken after this.
