Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 24.75 crore in the IPL 2024 auction. After which Starc became the most expensive player in IPL history. Fans expected Starc's performance to be equal to the amount invested in him by the franchise, but so far Starc's performance has not been anything special.

In the first two matches, Starc gave 100 runs in 8 overs.

So far this season, Starc has neither been able to take significant wickets nor been able to control the run rate. After this, Starc was criticized a lot and fans questioned KKR's decision to buy Starc for so much money.

KKR CEO defends Starc

While on one hand Mitchell Starc is getting a lot of criticism for his poor bowling, on the other hand KKR CEO Venky Mysore has now defended Starc. Venky Mysore says we don't think about how much we have invested on Starc in the auction. There are things in auction that are out of anyone's hands. Starc is a superstar player, his presence gives a different pace to the team.
