- From Punjab side, Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma made the match exciting with their innings.
- The match was played between Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Mullanpur.
In this match, Sunrisers Hyderabad, batting first, scored 189 runs at the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. While chasing the target, Punjab Kings lost 3 important wickets in the power play. However, the explosive innings of Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma made this match exciting, but in the end Punjab Kings lost by 2 runs. Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan said that the biggest reason for the defeat in this match was not taking proper advantage of the first 6 overs.
we kept them on good score
Shikhar Dhawan said after the defeat in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, “We restricted them to a better score, but we could not score runs fast in the first 6 overs and also lost 3 wickets.” I think this is where we failed. Lag behind in the match, which had an impact in the end. I think Shashank and Ashutosh played good innings. Although there is not much bounce on this wicket, in such a situation we all should make some changes in our batting. We also dropped a catch on the last ball of the innings. We could have restricted them by 10 to 15 runs, but due to our poor batting we lost the match. It is good to see young players performing with this rhythm. We will try to perform better in the coming matches from here.
Pat Cummins praised Nitish Rana
After the spectacular victory in this match, Sunrisers Hyderabad team captain Pat Cummins said, “It was a great match from cricket point of view. Punjab Kings bowled very well while we were able to defend the score of 180.'' The best thing about the Impact Player rule is that you get depth in your batting. In the beginning it was not easy for us to score runs while batting. If we had scored 150 to 160 runs, you would have lost 9 out of 10 matches, but after reaching 180, we were very happy. We knew the new ball would be important in this match as we saw how Punjab Kings took advantage of it. There are many left-arm bowlers in our team, which also benefited us. Nitish made his debut last week and in this match he showed what he can do with the bat. He was excellent in fielding as well as bowling, he bowled 3 excellent overs for us.
