IPL 2024: BCCI takes strict action against Hardik Pandya, fined lakhs

- Earlier, a fine of Rs 24 lakh was imposed on Rishabh Pant.
The match in IPL 2024 was between Punjab Kings (PBKS) vs Mumbai Indians (MI) on 18th April. Mumbai won this match in a thrilling manner by 9 runs but after the match Hardik Pandya got a big shock. Mumbai Indians, captained by Hardik, bowled at a slow over rate for the first time in this IPL season. After which BCCI has imposed a fine of Rs 12 lakh on him.
BCCI in its press release said that Pandya was fined Rs 12 lakh as it was his team (Mumbai Indians)'s first offense under the IPL code of conduct this season.
These captains were fined in IPL!
Before Hardik, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Shreyas Iyer was the victim of slow over-rate in the IPL on April 16. In IPL 2024, the team was fined Rs 12 lakh for poor over-rate during the game against Rajasthan Royals. Due to the slow over rate, KKR were forced to play the match with four fielders instead of the stipulated five fielders in the last over of the second innings.
Rishabh Pant fined Rs 24 lakh
Delhi, captained by Rishabh Pant, suffered a humiliating defeat by 106 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 3. Delhi bowled at a slow over rate for the second time in that match. Due to which Rishabh Pant and Delhi Capitals have suffered huge losses. Pant was fined ₹24 lakh, while other members of Delhi Capitals' playing XI were fined (₹6 lakh or 25% of their match fee, whichever is lower).
In fact, for the second consecutive time in the IPL, BCCI punished Pant and the entire team of Delhi Capitals for being found guilty of slow over-rate. Pant violated the IPL code of conduct for the second time. Earlier, Pant was fined Rs 12 lakh due to slow over rate in the match against Chennai.
Fine was also imposed on Gill and Sanju Samson
On 10 April, a match was played between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans. In this match, Gujarat defeated Rajasthan by 3 wickets. But due to slow over rate in the match, Sanju Samson was fined Rs 12 lakh. Shubman is the first IPL captain to face a penalty under slow over rate. In the IPL match against Chennai, Gill could not complete the entire overs in the stipulated time.
If a person is found guilty of slow over rate for the first time in IPL, he is fined Rs 12 lakh. For the second time, the captain is fined Rs 24 lakh and the team members are fined Rs 6 lakh or 25% of their match fees, whichever is less.
