In the 62nd match of IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals will face Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday. A big update has come out before this match to be played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Delhi Capitals' regular captain Rishabh Pant will have to sit out one match due to slow over rate. In such a situation, Akshar Patel will now be seen captaining the team in his place. Head coach Ricky Ponting has confirmed this.

Pant has been suspended for one match and fined Rs 30 lakh for slow over-rate in Delhi Capitals' last match against Rajasthan Royals. Before the 20th over of this match, Delhi Capitals was behind by 10 minutes in the game. Delhi Capitals has committed this offense (slow over rate) for the third time this season. Apart from captain Pant, other players of the team have been fined Rs 12 lakh or 50 percent of the match fee (whichever is less). Delhi filed an appeal challenging the match referee's decision which was sent to the BCCI Ombudsman for review. The Ombudsman held a hearing and said that the match referee's decision is final and binding.
