Former Team India cricketer Gautam Gambhir is working as a mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024. After Gautam's return to KKR, the team's performance has changed this season. KKR has made it to the playoffs and the team's Qualifier-1 match is against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The credit to a large extent goes to Gautam Gambhir for the way he has worked with the team. Gautam is often in the news for his outspoken statements. Once again Gautam has given such a statement regarding the selectors of Team India due to which his statement has started being discussed again.
Gautam told the story of struggle in his cricket career
Gautam Gambhir said during a YouTube chat show with Team India's spin bowler R Ashwin that when I tried for my first under-14 tournament, I was not selected because I did not touch the feet of the selectors. I must have been 13 or 14 years old at that time. After this I promised myself that I would never touch the feet of the selectors. Even today I don't let players touch my feet.

Gambhir further said that when I failed in the initial days of my career, people used to tell me that I come from a good family so why should I play cricket and I should take over my father's business. People had this perception about me but it was important for me to play cricket for India.
KKR became champion twice
Along with the Indian team, Gautam Gambhir also performed brilliantly for KKR. Under his captaincy, Gambhir brought the championship to KKR for the first time. KKR first won the IPL title in the year 2012 under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir. Apart from this, KKR became the champion for the second time in the year 2014. This year too, the command of the team was in the hands of Gambhir. With this, KKR is once again being considered a strong contender to win the title.
