Kolkata Knight Riders have won the IPL 2024 trophy. Shreyas Iyer-led KKR defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets in the final. KKR ended its title drought after 10 years. After KKR became the champion, an old speech of mentor Gautam Gambhir is going viral, which hides the secret of winning the trophy. Gambhir gave this speech a few days before the start of the 17th season. The way he instilled the spirit of 'Korbo, Lorbo Jeetbo' in the Kolkata players was worth watching. KKR had earlier won the title in 2014 and 2012 under Gambhir's captaincy.
No Domestic/International
Gambhir said in the speech, “You are representing a successful franchise. Make sure you train the same way, you play the same way and you go to the field with the same attitude. The season starts today, whether it is physical, mental or skill-wise. Give it your all. One thing I strongly believe in is giving complete freedom to the players. This is very important. Those who have played with me know one thing about me that everyone will be treated equally in this team. There is no senior-junior here. There is no domestic/international.
Our mission is to win the IPL
The KKR mentor further said, “We have only one mission and that is to win the IPL. Everyone has to follow it. We have to work hard and reach the final on May 26. Preparations for this are starting today and not from March 23 or 26. If we move forward with a purpose and compete strongly, I hope we will achieve great success. Friends, good luck. Have freedom and have fun. You can ask questions anytime and to anyone. On behalf of the support staff, I can assure you that we will be honest to you. Wish you success. Enjoy.”
Gambhir was praised a lot after becoming the champion
After winning the IPL trophy, KKR players praised the contribution of mentor Gambhir. Nitish Rana said, “I want to share a small thing that when 'Jiji' (Gautam Gambhir) Bhaiya was made the 'mentor', I sent him a long message because I was very happy. He replied, 'Thank you, but I will be happy if we stand on the podium with the trophy in our hands.' Today is that day and I will never forget that message,” Rinku Singh said, “My 7-year-old dream has finally come true and I am proud of my entire team and 'Jiji' sir had a plan.
