Virat Kohli, the best batter of Indian cricket team, got a thunderous applause from the supporters in the M Chinnamooray Stadium in Bengaluru, on Tuesday, right before the beginning of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Kohli has been a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise since the first IPL season back in 2008 and over time, the fans honoured him with the nickname’ King Kohli’. However, during the event, Kohli asked the host Danish Sait and the fans to not call him’ king’ as he feels embarrassed every time he hears it and even revealed a conversation with Faf du Plessis about the topic.

“Firstly, you need to stop calling me that word (King). Please call me Virat. I had been merely stating to Faf duPlessis that I’m embarrassed each year whenever you refer to me to be a king, so please do not use that word. Kohli stated that he would rather be called Virat and refrain from using that term from now on due to its embarrassing nature.

Kohli, who will begin his 17th season with the RCB in IPL 2024, stated he’d utilize his experience and skillsets to convert the dream of winning the IPL trophy into reality this season.
