Who became the new head coach of Delhi Capitals?
Former Indian team middle-order batsman Hemang Badani has been appointed as the new head coach of Delhi Capitals. Badani replaces Ricky Ponting, who recently parted ways with the team after 7 seasons. Venugopal Rao has been appointed Director of Cricket in place of Indian captain Sourav Ganguly. These changes are aimed at strengthening the coaching structure of the team and giving it a fresh start.
The team owned by Delhi Capitals has also decided not to extend the contract of assistant coach Praveen Amre. Amare, who has been serving the team since 2014, will no longer be a part of the new coaching staff.
Achievements of Hemang Badani
Hemang Badani has not played many matches for India. He has played 4 test matches and 40 ODI matches. But he has made a successful career as a coach. The former Tamil Nadu captain has proved his worth in the domestic T20 circuit. He was active in the early years of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and played a key role in helping Chepauk Super Gillies win three Tamil Nadu Premier League titles. Apart from this, he has also worked as a fielding coach and scout for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Hemang Badani has also gained coaching experience in international T20 leagues, such as winning the SA20 title as assistant coach of Sunrisers Eastern Cape. Recently he has also worked with franchises like Dubai Capitals and Seattle Orcas.
