- There have been many controversies regarding umpire's decisions in IPL 2024
- Sanju Samson's wicket was controversial in the match against DC
- Indian player Abhinav Mukund broke this controversy
There have been many controversies regarding the decisions of the umpires in IPL 2024. There was a dispute over the wicket of Sanju Samson in the match played between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals. A section of cricket fans are saying that Shai Hope's catch was clean.
Controversy over Sanju Samson's dismissal
The decision to dismiss Sanju Samson was correct, while the other group believes that Shai Hope's foot had touched the boundary line. In such a situation, Sanju should have been considered not out and given a six. However, this is not the first time that there has been an uproar regarding fielding near the boundary. To ensure that such a dispute does not happen again, a cricketer has come up with an idea to find a solution.
This will be a time saving rule
Amidst the controversy over Sanju Samson's wicket, Indian player Abhinav Mukund has put an end to this controversy. Posting on X, Abhinav wrote – I have been continuously talking about changes in border rules for some time. This will be a time saving decision especially in T20 cricket. Also, a decision can be taken later today to end the disputes.
It shouldn't matter if you hit the limit
According to Abhinav, when the ball directly crosses the boundary, 6 runs are scored. When the ball hits the ground and touches the boundary line, 4 runs are scored. It has to be kept simple. Abhinav believes that if a fielder touches the boundary then it should not matter. Be it hitting boundaries and stopping fours and sixes or catching. This will make things transparent.
After this, a user asked him – What will happen if someone takes a strong catch inside the line while controlling his body and the ball goes beyond the boundary line? In response, Abhinav Mukund wrote- He will be considered out.
Hitting the boundary shouldn't matter
Along with this, a user asked- Then what will be the purpose of boundary in the match? In response to which Abhinav said – While deciding whether to give a four or a six, it does not matter whether the fielder touches the boundary or not. After this, a user asked – If the fielder jumps and falls on the boundary after taking the catch, then it will be unfair to the batsman. In response, Abhinav said- Anyway, it is unfair for the bowlers that we play on a small pitch. One foot rope is not suitable.
Abhinav then concluded with this post – To put it mildly, this catch is getting a similar response to the optical illusion WhatsApp forward from a few years back. This is exactly the same picture. Some people may see the foot touching the boundary, some may only see the shadow of the fielder, but it doesn't matter, our opinion doesn't matter. Abhinav Mukund has played 7 test matches for India.
